The Prime enables the highest computing power for real-time systems available. The Prime uses the i.MX Crossover MCU with Arm® Cortex®-M7 Core; a high-performance, low-power crossover processor. It runs at 600 MHz with 1MB SRAM, 4 MB flash, and runs on Avular ArtOs. This enables you to get FPGA-like performances with the Prime.
The unique design of the Prime exploration is made for customization. Next to the power input and the Wi-Fi antenna, there is a high density pin connector to for custom connectivity solutions.
This way is a flexible yet robust way of prototying. With a perfect fit, the custom connector -referred to as a bridge- is robustly fixed on the Prime Exploration.
The Prime Exploration can be used with different standard bridges from Avular, or create your own bridge. The standard bridges consist out of a JST bridge, compliant with Pixhawk connectivity, and a terminal bridge, that is often used for prototying and in PLCs. If there is a wish to create a custom bridge with the connectors you want, you're able to create your own bridge. Please contact us for more information on custom bridges.
With Avular’s intuitive software program Cerebra Studio, you can program your Prime and monitor its signals and change its control in real time in a user-friendly interactive design.
Cerebra Studio is free software, which can be easily downloaded and installed as a desktop application. The GUI enables (control) engineers to code in an easier way. With the press of a button, your model can be flashed on the robot, eliminating at least one engineer. Cerebra Studio offers a basic free license, and a paid Pro license with more functionalities and features.
Cerebra Studio can automatically translate your MATLAB model to binary code ran on the micro controller. The speed and ease with which the code is translated to the robot saves resources and improves project’s time efficiency. Cerebra Studio also allows you to integrate existing code, either through directly interacting with our firmware or integrating your code in a MATLAB model.
De Exploration Prime is perfect for cost-saving prototyping. It has an interchangeable bridge for its connectors, so you can choose what type of connectors are most suitable for your application.
The Industrial Prime is ideal when developing a new industrial application and its waterproofness makes it crucial for outdoor applications. Its high-end connectors are reliable, robust and waterproof. All Industrial expansion modules are waterproof.
The Rugged Prime is recommenced for high-end applications and built with the strongest, most robust components available. The push-pull connectors ensure that it can also be used in applications that require a high number of mating cycles.
Although Avular mainly focusses on mobile robotics, the Prime Exploration can also be used in other use cases – it can be used to program any type of actuator and sensor reading. As such, it can also be used to create prototypes for control mechatronic systems such as a robotic arm.
The Prime Exploration is also a very useful tool for educational purposes, specifically because of the cost-efficient material, yet robust design. Students can get familiar with MATLAB Simulink and embedded programming using the Prime.
