Drone safety cluster
The drone safety cluster was a living lab for the development of safer drones that run from 2015 until 2018.
Together with various end-users, research institutes, regulators and industry integrators new applications were created for industrial maintenance, precision agriculture and public services.
The focus of the project was on the development of new technical safety standards for drones and safe integration of equipment used on drones. With a total budget of €1.6 M we made investigations into and created new standards for a safe drone environments. This helped a push for industry to enjoy the fruits of the unlimited new applications that can be created through unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
Within the project specific cases for agriculture drone inspections, explosive dangerous (ATEX) environment drone inspections, building area drone inspections, and educational use of drones have been investigated and created.
