Stellar (RTK/GPS) localization system

The Avular Stellar system works with real-time kinematic GPS (GNSS). It uses – like any GPS system – the satellites to know its location, but also uses GPS information sent from a base station with a known location. This makes the Avular Stellar accurate up to 2.5 centimeters and perfect for applications outdoor.

2.5 centimeters accuracy

To provide higher accuracy than standard GPS, Stellar uses one base station that is updated with its exact location (with coordinates). The base station provides its exact location and received satellite signals to the robot, and the robot compares this information to the GPS signals the robot received from the satellites. It then locally calculates its location up to 2.5 centimeters accurate.

Ideal for outdoor applications

Because the Avular Stellar uses GPS for navigation, its ideal application area is outdoors on open fields and large outdoor spaces, where it has access to enough (min. 4) satellites. It can’t flourish indoors, since the GPS signals from the satellites won’t be strong enough.

Combine systems

Since every navigation system is developed for specific purposes, customers might want to combine some systems to gain all advantages and skip their limitations. That is possible with all Avular navigation systems, but also with third-party products. For example, combine our Stellar, Starling and Spectrum to navigate a mobile robot both indoors and outdoors.

Long and expandable range

The Stellar base station has a range up to 500 meters, but can be expanded by adding more Stellar stations. This way, the mobile robot can use the next station before losing signal.
