Control Engineer (Autonomy)

We’re looking for a control engineer to join the Avular Team!

At Avular we are looking for a new team member for the Autonomy team. This team develops software that allows our robots, both driving and flying, to operate with a higher level of autonomy. Your tasks could cover a wide range: from implementing actual localization and planning algorithms to creating tooling and automated tests for other engineers. Of course you integrate and test your work, both in simulation and on the robots. Part of you responsibility is to maintain the Autopilot code base, and safeguard its quality throughout its development. You work together with other control engineers and architects, and make sure that your development aligns with our company road map.

YOUR MISSION

  • Contribute to our Autopilot codebase, using mainly ROS2 and C++.

  • Develop and maintain functionality related to localization, planning and robot behavior running on its on-board Linux computer.

  • Collaborate with other control engineers and align your approach with the relevant Architects.

  • Document your approach and test the required software specifications.

  • Analyzing log files and ros bags to verify your features or execute root cause analysis of reported issues.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have a Master’s degree or PhD in Robotics, Control Systems or related field

  • At least 3 years of professional working experience in the field of robotics or control systems

  • Strong algorithmic background, demonstrated in the field of path planning or 3D localization and mapping with LiDAR or vision based algorithms

  • Experience implementing control algorithms on hardware

  • Experience with Linux, ROS2 and C++

  • Familiarity working with larger software projects, managing dependencies, versioning and releases.

  • Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English

  • Affinity with mobile robots and autonomous systems

  • Bonus: experience with docker, unit testing and integration testing, CI/CD workflows

  • Bonus: experience with the following tools: Git, Jira, Confluence
