Location: Eindhoven (Strijp-T) | Hours: 40 hours per week | Employment type: Direct employment

We’re looking for Robotics Software Engineer to join the Avular Team!

At Avular, we’re seeking a passionate robotics software engineer to join our Autonomy team, where you’ll develop software to power the situational understanding, as well as the autonomous navigation and decision making of our driving and flying robots. Your work will enable advanced perception, navigation, behaviour, and cognition capabilities for our robots. You will work on a new generation of graph-based algorithms combining data-driven and model-driven approaches that will boost our robots' understanding of the real world and their ability to execute tasks in complex terrain autonomously. All that with a keen understanding of the robot’s hardware capabilities (and limitations) to drive the best possible solutions for our clients.

🚀 YOUR MISSION

  • Develop and mature on-robot functionality related to understanding, decision making, navigation, hypergraphs and control running on the robot's on-board Linux computer.

  • Drive core product development and build custom autonomy solutions for client needs.

  • Collaborate with fellow robotic / embodied AI engineers and align your approach with system architects.

  • Document your approach, write tests, and verify software against requirements.

  • Debug from the field: analyse log files, ROS bags and (graph) databases for root-cause analysis.

  • Propose and implement innovative solutions that push robot understanding and autonomy further.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • MSc or PhD in Robotics, AI, Automated Planning, Control Systems, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.

  • 3+ years building robotics or embodied-AI software, with proven work deployed on hardware.

  • Strong algorithmic foundation in one or more of: knowledge/factor graphs, (active) perception, reinforcement learning, behaviour trees, MDPs.

  • Solid C++, Linux and ROS 2, with Git in a real team workflow.

  • Managing larger codebases: dependencies, versioning, releases, full-system deployment.

  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Bonus:

  • IsaacSim, (hyper)graph databases, GPU/TPU/NPU acceleration.

  • Docker, unit/integration testing, CI/CD.

  • Agile delivery with Jira / Confluence.
