At Avular we design, build, and test the hardware, software, electronics, and robotic platforms to tackle every mobile robotic challenge, from ground solutions to aerial and aquatic solutions. As our Software Discipline Lead, you will contribute to the development of our robots’ software systems and lead and mentor our software engineers. You will have a hybrid role, combining your technical expertise with people management, significantly impacting our projects and team growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
You will be the main representative of our Software Discipline, and besides coding and working on product development you will have some other tasks like:
Supporting the personal and professional development of our software engineers. This includes having conversations about the team member’s goals and ambitions, year-end appraisal, 1-on-1 sessions, coaching, and providing input to HR on personnel-related matters.
Leading by example in the Software Discipline, being the go-to person for any software advice. You will set up the way of working within the team (including tooling), ensuring continuous improvement and learning for the engineers.
Ensuring a smooth collaboration between different disciplines, helping project managers choose the best team for each project, and promoting synergies between the projects and the engineers.
Identifying the need for additional resources or skills to enable Avular’s development roadmap, including hiring new talent in collaboration with our recruiter.
YOUR SPECS
Bachelor or Master’s in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or similar.
More than 10 years of experience as a Software Engineer working in product development within multidisciplinary teams.
Proficient in C++ and Python; experience with embedded systems, RTOS, ROS2, or Qt is a pré.
Skilled in software design and architectural principles.
Good leadership and stakeholder management skills, ideally experience mentoring a team or junior software engineers.
Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
