We’re looking for a Technical Buyer to join the Avular Team! 

As Technical Buyer at Avular, you play a key role in ensuring that our innovative products can be built with the right quality, cost structure, and supply continuity. From the very first prototype and NPI phase to production and long-term service support, you ensure our teams have the right components, suppliers, and agreements in place to build reliable, scalable, and cost-effective products. You are part of our Operations team and work closely with other disciplines, like R&D, Service & support and finance. You combine technical understanding with commercial sharpness and process ownership to keep our products moving fast in an evolving market. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS 

• This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on operational purchasing with strategic sourcing and NPI involvement. You take end-to-end ownership, from placing orders and managing suppliers to influencing design decisions and long-term sourcing strategy. A significant part of this role is hands-on and operational. 

• Take ownership of purchasing activities for production, prototypes, service & support, and other operational purchases. 

• Facilitate timely re-ordering and pro-active re-order rules, based on production and project planning and consumption data.  

• Partner with Engineering teams during NPI to drive supplier selection, technical sourcing and production technique decisions, and design-for-manufacturing improvements. 

• Build strong relationships with suppliers and lead discussions on pricing, quality, lead times, contracts, and long-term collaboration. 

• Take ownership of purchasing processes by setting up, optimising, and fine-tuning workflows, the procurement processes in our ERP system, and supplier collaboration methods. 

• Monitor component lifecycles, market developments, and supply risks that may impact availability, pricing, or continuity. 

• Identify alternative sourcing options and mitigation strategies for components at risk of obsolescence or shortages. 

• Manage budgets and purchasing targets with a strong focus on cost control, savings opportunities, and long-term value creation. 

YOUR SPECS 

• You have 3-5 years of experience in technical buying, strategic procurement, or supply chain within a technical production environment. 

• You have experience supporting supplier selection and sourcing decisions during NPI or product development phases. 

• You understand production techniques, manufacturing methods, BOM structures, and technical documentation. 

• You are commercially strong and confident in negotiations on price, contracts, and supplier quality. 

• You are proactive in monitoring market developments, component lifecycles, and supply chain risks. 

• You are highly budget-focused and able to balance cost, quality, lead time, and risk. 

• You enjoy creating and improving processes and building scalable ways of working in a fast-growing organisation. 

• You have a hands-on mentality and like to balance process thinking and in-depth analysis with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to day-to-day operational work. You enjoy staying close to the day-to-day execution. 

• You are comfortable working cross-functionally with both technical and business stakeholders. 

• Working proficiency in both spoken and written English. 

• You have a degree from an Applied University or a University-level Institution 

• You thrive in a scale-up environment where priorities move fast, and ownership is high.
