At Avular, we are looking for a Test Engineer who loves to combine hands-on testing with a push for systematic process improvement in a young, dynamic environment of robotics development. You are a technical and quality-driven professional who ensures that everything we do results in mature products and processes. You understand how to motivate and coach test engineers and the organisation around them to mature the test engineering competence in Avular.
YOUR MISSION
You are able to spread the importance of system integration and testing, and know how to balance rigid processes with an agile young company. Therefore, you will work with different disciplines in the company, from manufacturing to project managers, and ensure that the development team is aligned on the integration and test process. As a Senior/Lead Test Engineer, you will be focused on defining company-wide testing processes, system-level testing strategies, managing individual direct reports, and doing hands-on testing yourself when time permits.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Architecture: Define project and company-wide testing strategies and system-level integration roadmaps.
Competence Leadership: Optimise the test engineering way of working, building a scalable, best-practice framework for the future.
Talent Management: Direct, mentor, and manage the career progression and growth of fellow test engineers and direct reports.
End-to-End Quality Ownership: Create, oversee, and execute rigorous test plans and dedicated test cases, clarifying technical requirements alongside development engineers.
Release Governance: Analyse, quantify, and report on test results with meticulous detail to make well-balanced release decisions.
WHO YOU ARE
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Electrical Systems Engineering.
Track Record: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in system integration and testing of complex, multidisciplinary mechatronic products delivered to market.
Leadership: Proven experience coaching, mentoring, or directly managing test engineers.
Technical Compliance: Experience coordinating with external testing partners and managing regulatory compliance frameworks.
Communication: Exceptional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Core Technical Competencies:
Quality Methods: Deep expertise in risk assessments (FMEA/TRA), requirement management, and configuration management.
Testing Methodologies: Proven execution of Environmental, HALT, user validation, Integration, and Regression testing.
Root Cause Analysis: Mastery of structured problem-solving frameworks (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
Test Tooling & Automation: Proficiency with basic scripting and Linux environments (Bash, Python, MATLAB), sensor selection, data acquisition, and data processing.
Desirable Bonuses:
Experience with EMC testing, HIL, and/or SIL testing.
Familiarity with CE and FCC certification standards.
Knowledge of advanced test automation frameworks and modern software development workflows (Git).
